marilynandbob  > Vacation > Tennessee Trip, October 2006
This trip was planned for one year! While Bob was in Africa, I drove to Colorado Springs with Rafiki the dog (leaving Cheena and the kitty behind) and Melissa (who lives there) and I had a sister road trip to Nashville, where our brother, Bill lives, with his wife of around 15 years, Tammie. He is the HR director of Forensic Medical Inc, a "CSI" type facility that serves the state of Tennessee in the Nashville and Memphis area. Tammie works at St. Thomas Rehabilitation Center in Nashville. There are 2 pages of photos and captions- please check them all out!

marilynandbob > What a wonderful trip to Tennessee!!! More than "a good time was had by all", more than "I ain't never had too much fun", this was a totally positive and action-packed 6 days!! Here we are dining at J. Alexander for lunch.
marilynandbob > Amazing Brother Bill, his lovely wife Tammie, and my adorable sister, Melissa, having a fabulous lunch at J. Alexander in Nashville.
marilynandbob > Here's Bill and Tammie outside their lovely home in Kingston Springs, just west of Nashville. As you see, this time of year is lush, green, warm, glorious!! It was a bit early for full-fledged autumn colors, but there was a beginning of leaves turning.
marilynandbob > Here's Bill and Tammie's house with Bill's shop behind it. Farther up the hill is their garden. We all three did some or all of our growing up in middle Tennessee, and we love this state and its many scenic wonders.
marilynandbob > Bill and Tammie's home, Kingston Springs, used to be a fairly sleepy little burg outside Nashville. It's growing and becoming a bit upscale- here's their new city park.
marilynandbob > Bill on the deck outside his shop, where he spends many hours working on his various projects. The black dog is his, Dior; the Red Dog is a neighbor.
marilynandbob > While at Bill and Tammie's home in Kingston Springs, I walked Rafiki behind a city park just 5 minutes away from their home. It was glorious, and Rafiki just loved this 20 minute walk. The far end of the trail bordered the Harpeth River.
marilynandbob > Well, you knew we had to have many moments of being really silly--- after all, we are Leftwich's! That's Marilyn holding the biscuits, Melissa playing that old upright bass, and Bill wagging his tail. The Loveless Cafe is a Nashville tradition, great southern cooking (we had lunch there- ummm!) and a spot where one can often spot the music stars that live in the area.
marilynandbob > On one of Tammie's days off, we visited the Frist Center for the Arts, for the Egypt exhibition (which was just great, but no cameras allowed). Yes, this is Senator Bill Frist, who we prefer to think of as a really well-known heart surgeon. This facility is a remodel of the old, historic Post Office- three floors, lots of marble and Art Deco windows and trim- just delicious!
What a wonderful trip to Tennessee!!! More than "a good time was had by all", more than "I ain't never had too much fun", this was a totally positive and action-packed 6 days!! Here we are dining at J. Alexander for lunch.
