marilynandbob > Our annual holiday photo, taken by whoever arrives first at our open-house. We invite all our neighbors, friends and associates, and people come and go all afternoon and evening. This year, we had a lot of snow for a few days before the party, but on the day of the event, some neighbors made sure the road was plowed, and the sun shone and it was picture-perfect!
        READ ON FOR HOLIDAY NEWSLETTER~

To all our friends and loved ones: Hi! We’re sending out a “newsletter” to share some of what we’ve been up to. Last winter we had record snowfall in Durango, and that really kept us busy! We needed the moisture for the spring and summer, which produced many lovely flowers and growth in our gardens.

In the spring, Bob taught Elderhostel Advanced Photography classes for Colorado State University in Arches/Canyonlands National Parks (Utah) and Yellowstone/Grand Tetons National Parks. Over the summer Bob took another photo tour to Kenya, and as always, really enjoyed the people, birds and animals there. Please see his professional website at www.robertwinslowphoto.com for some great photos. Marilyn attended the US School of Bagpiping in Flagstaff, AZ again- a rollicking good time, improving the skill and meeting new pipers.

We finally fulfilled our plans for a long trip “back East” in the Fall, and we did our RV travels connecting with Bob’s sister Barbara and Kevin plus niece Amanda and David in Oklahoma, Bob’s cousin Gayle and Art in Missouri, Marilyn’s old friends Sean and Cristina in Ohio, Niagara Falls, the Adirondack mountains to see some great colors and the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, Bob’s cousin Joan and Herman in Pennsylvania, Marilyn’s friend Donna Kay and Dave in Virginia, and Marilyn’s brother Bill and Tammie in Tennessee~ wow, it was a wonderful trip in every way. Please visit the gallery on our trip back East at this website for photos and narrative about our travels, which included our dog, Rafiki- he was a “model citizen” and wonderful companion during the whole trip! A couple of days after retuning home, Bob had private photography clients in Moab, UT and followed that up with another CSU Elderhostel Photography Class.

We had Marilyn’s sister Melissa, niece and nephew Celine and Jackson plus other friends in Durango for Thanksgiving; Jackson is a college senior, Celine a sophomore, both at University of Colorado, and just terrific in every way! Marilyn has recently been bagpiping a lot: St. Andrew’s night celebration and jam, opening ceremonies for the new and lovely Durango library, and Noel Night, the Downtown Durango “Holidazzle” event to lure shoppers to the Main Avenue retail stores! We visited Tucson with Bob’s mom and other sister, Phyllis, at Christmas.

We recently found out that our beloved Rafiki has a cancerous growth in his leg, and may not live long. Meanwhile, he behaves normally in every way, running and jumping, playing and wagging that tail… so we are going to enjoy his company and not let him suffer.

Meanwhile, we’re enjoying our home and one another, living in Durango, the results of the election (yippee!) and loving connections with friends and family. Wishing all of you a fabulous holiday season and prosperous (we all hope!) and enjoyable New Year.
marilynandbob > Some fun during the party. Here's Bob and our dearest friend, Laura. Neighbor John in the background.
marilynandbob > Marilyn sharing some chuckles with good pals, Victoria and JoAnn.
marilynandbob > Bob and Andy, one of our great neighbors. Not sure if you can see it, but on the refrigerator is a magnetic Barak Obama, with a full wardrobe. Today, he's wearing an Afro wig and a Santa hat, I think, and standing on the earth. What a guy! We are thrilled to have a little piece of history in our kitchen. We are big fans, and SOOOO happy he was elected!
marilynandbob > Two excellent friends, Laura and Dan, drinking that hot buttered rum (Laura) and spiked egg nog (Dan). No wonder they're both grinning!
marilynandbob > What a group! Here's Marilyn with Laura and Wally, and~ what a coincidence~ Will, who was Wally's nurse for his recent hip surgery. That's baby Grace in dad's arms.
marilynandbob > Having fun yet? Yes, say Laura, Karola and Deb.
marilynandbob > The view out the upstairs door to the North. Beautiful icicles hanging from the roof. This photo was taken in early December; the icicles are still there in early January! Yes, it's been cold...
marilynandbob > At Bob's mother's apartment in Tucson. Florence has a cozy little place at The Fountains (retirement community) and treated us to dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas in their lovely restaurant. All the gifts under the tree- wow!
