What a storm! The weather that California got (terrible floods, avalanches, huge rain) came to us as feet and feet of snow.

marilynandbob > It snowed all afternoon and night on Sat, Jan 5, and almost all day Sun, Jan 6. More to come. Snow slides off the propanel roof on the south side making huge piles of snow, which then have to be shovelled.
marilynandbob > Night view of our entry way before it was shovelled the next day.
marilynandbob > Snow about to slide off the roof (Marilyn and Rafiki escaped without being buried). We went out at night to shake some snow off the branches of the trees, so they wouldn't break from the weight. This photo shows "Grandmother Tree", a fine, stately Juniper, which is the totem spirit of our property, where we hang our birdfeeders and other favorite things. We shook her branches really well
marilynandbob > Sunday morning we started snow removal around 8 pm, and eventually came in at noon. Here's Bob with the snowthrower to clear our driveway and the circle where we park. It wasn't really cold, but started out very windy, plus the snow was wet and heavy.
marilynandbob > Here's a neighbor who had been plowing our road, and got stuck! Bob went down to help and is digging here.
marilynandbob > We were "saved" when the man we have on contract to plow our road arrived to save the day ~~ Here he is in his big orange earth (and snow) mover/plow. He pulled neighbor Jim out and then finished plowing our roads. At around the same time, a bunch of other neighbors arrived to help get the stuck truck out- but everyone was able to go home and let the professional do his thing. We went back to the roof....
marilynandbob > The snow didn't slide much off the north side of our house; it's supposed to slide well on the metal propanel, but this roof is old, and we were concerned about the weight. So, Bob went up to shovel. While he was doing this, Marilyn climbed on our RV trailer and shovelled the roof there (no photos available, since M. was the photographer).
marilynandbob > Bob continues to shovel snow off the north roof. We both worked really hard; Bob did the snowthrowing and this roof; Marilyn shovelled the trailer roof and the decks. We had a bit of a break in the storm, but the forecast is for more (several feet more) to be coming~ YIKES.
